Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, a U.S. Supreme Court decision, 5-4, included positive votes by Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia, both of whom have been feted by the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference), has devastating effects on the balance of power in the United States.
As a result of this decision, corporations now have the right to provide unlimited, anonymous funds to political campaigns.
As Naomi Klein, author of The Shock Doctrine put it, now the corporations have nukes and they're ready to go after the rest of us with our slingshots.
To me, this is so patently unconstitutional, I cannot believe it is the law of the land.
